Vintage kimono silk top

This top is made from a beautiful Oshima tsumugi silk kimono with lovely soft colours like blue, yellow and pink.(It's hard to show the real colours on photos. The last zoom in photo shows its best colours)

Oshima tsumugi is a traditional Japanese craft with a long history of about 1,300 years, and is one of the world's three major textiles along with Persian carpets and French Gobelins fabrics and Japanese people have admired and cherished them as the highest quality textile. 

Oshima tsumugi is characterized by its luster, delicate patterns, and supple, lightweight comfort. 

Ohima tsumugi is only made from 100% silk so it has the image of a luxury item, however it is actually suitable for everyday wear as it is thin, durable, and extremely long-lasting, long enough to be passed on several generations.

Hena Hena's creations are upcycled with vintage silk kimonos which are imported from Japan and they are carefully unpicked by myself. I mainly use kimonos from the 1980s and before. Because of their age of fabrics there could be some flaws like small marks, pinholes, colour fade, old smell etc. but they have incredibly graceful taste that only vintage kimonos have. I hope you enjoy and love the beauty of vintage kimono silks including their histories to be embraced.
